Here is a summary of the work that MAMA Project does in San Pedro Sula. Some of it is similar to what
is done in San Francisco de Yojoa.
Health/ Hygiene Education is done at both the village level, through community seminars.
Work Teams -- to serve in Honduras, but also to learn from Hondurans. Teams that
go to San Pedro can participate in medical and/or construction brigades.
Preschools are preparing children for a successful educational career, and in many cases,
doing some remedial work because early childhood neglect and malnutrition has already handicapped children before they
even start school. MAMA has received recognition from the Honduran Ministry of Education for our work in promoting preschools,
and training volunteer teachers who actually earn a preschool teaching certificate when they complete the MAMA training
classes.
Community Development
Scholarship Programs - In both Haiti and Honduras, we have children from Grade 1 through
University who are able to study because of support from sponsors in North America. We always need new sponsors, and
appreciate the many who have supported children for years.
